Repair Cafe
Woodward Library will host a repair cafe with stations for sewing, darning, small electronics repair, and reusable beeswax wrap making, with textile and electronics experts on-hand to assist participants.
Textile repairs can include helping with holes, tears, buttons, and patching. Hand sewing, darning, and sewing machine stations will be available. Please note that this is an event focused on learning and collborative crafting, rather than an alteration or major repairs service.
Acceptable items for electronic repair include: clean small appliances such as toasters, coffee makers, vacuums, blenders, and electronic items such as DVD players, radios, and gaming systems.
The Repair Cafe has the right to reject any of the following items: items containing lead or asbestos, unclean items, such as those with food residue, grease, or dust, and items containing insects of any kind, dead or alive. The following items are not accepted for repairs: printers, furniture, tablets, large appliances, sewing machines, power washers.
This is a drop-in event, and time with our repairers is first-come, first-serve. While you're waiting for your turn at the repair table, you can try out your hand at making a sustainable beeswax food wrap at our crafting station, participate in our climate-themed Lego table challenge, do a puzzle, check out our mending books, and more. We hope to see you there!
We gratefully acknowledge Inspiring Community Grants for their financial support of our project.
