Visual Literacy at UBC Library: Music, Art and Architecture x Chung | Lind Gallery
Visual literacy is a set of abilities that enables an individual to effectively find, interpret, evaluate, use, and create images and visual media.
How can UBC Library resources help develop this important skillset across different disciplines?
In this introductory workshop, students will have the opportunity to build their visual competencies by engaging in hands-on activities using contemporary and historical images, visual media, and material culture.
Participants will visit the Chung | Lind Gallery and compare the visual narratives of historical materials in the gallery with art monographs and exhibition catalogues from the Music, Art and Architecture Library and Rare Books and Special Collections Library.
Join us for this experiential learning opportunity to further develop your understanding of the contextual, cultural, and aesthetic components involved in the production and use of visual materials.
