Since 2018 most data products and other materials published by Statistics Canada are governed by the Statistics Canada Open License. This license allows anyone to use, share, and redistribute Statistics Canada information, including Census data and national surveys like the General Social Survey and the Canadian Perspectives series on topics related to COVID-19.

In spite of the open license many of these datasets are not available from the Statistics Canada website and can be difficult to obtain - until now! In 2020 UBC Library updated its data repository to make Statistics Canada data available to the public.
