The MURC Abstract: Writing

Conference abstracts play a vital role in the communication of scholarly research. But how do writers communicate the relevance and legitimacy of their research to members of their discipline, and, importantly, to researchers in other disciplines?
This evidence-based workshop, designed for students submitting an abstract to the Multidisciplinary Undergraduate Research Conference (MURC) at UBC, introduces undergraduate researchers to two typical structural models of the abstract across disciplines, while accounting for disciplinary differences and community norms.

Facilitators:

Dr. Patty Kelly, Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication
Liam Monaghan, Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication

Zoom Workshop Dates:

Thursday, January 7, 9:30am – 11:00am PDT
