Open Pedagogy with Scalar: Publishing Digital Books
This workshop provides an introduction to Scalar, a free, open source authoring and publishing platform. Scalar can be used to create media-rich assignments and engage students in open and digital pedagogy. This workshop will identify key considerations for introducing Scalar into the classroom and cover topics such as copyright, open licenses, privacy concerns, and accessibility. Participants will also learn how to build Scalar pages incorporating multimedia (e.g. video, text, images, sound), annotations, tags, and metadata.
Pre-requisites: None. This workshop is intended for beginners. Participants at the workshop will be provided with a registration key to create their own free Scalar account.
