Beginner R part 1
If you have never opened R, do not know what R packages are, do not know how to read files into R, this workshop is for you! At the end of this workshop you will:
- Know what R and RStudio are
- Know what the parts of R Studio are called
- Know how to organize R code in an R script
If your expertise is a bit higher than what is described above but you are still very new to R, check out the Beginner R part 2 workshop on Feburary 1, 2024 at 10am.

About this workshop series
Beginner R part 1 is one in a series of R workshops offered by the UBC Library Research Commons. Each one-hour sesson introduces a particular task or application in R, followed by an optional 30 minute practice period with support from the instructors. The series goal is to introduce participants to the data analysis and visualization potential of R and to encourage further self-paced exploration. Other workshops in the series offered this term:
- Beginner R part 2, February 1, 10-11am
- Data visualization with ggplot2, Feburary 15, 10-11am
- Introduction to the tidyverse R package, Feburary 29, 2-3pm
- Loops and conditional statements in R, March 14, 2-3pm
