Designing Interactive OER and Course Content with H5P

Interactivity and learner engagement is a critical factor known to significantly enhance learning outcomes. H5P, a free and open-source tool, empowers users to create a wide array of interactive elements designed to enrich engagement within OER and course content. Recently launched by UBC, the H5P Open Hub provides a dedicated platform for UBC Community members to generate, store, and share open H5P interactive content.  H5P contains dozens of interactive elements that can be used to design interactive content or student learning. In this interactive session, we will preview commonly used content types such as multiple-choice questions, image hotspots, and interactive video, and guide participants through the process of developing a couple different ones. We will also discuss how these interactive elements can help implement formative assessment questions and provide timely feedback. Additionally, we will address several important considerations and share best practice for creating accessible H5P content. This session is for beginner or intermediate users of H5P.
