Writing for Graduate Success: Common Academic Expressions
Academic English is, in many ways, a new language with its own conventions and expectations that all researchers must learn, regardless of our first language. Across disciplines, scholars rely on a recognizable set of expressions to articulate relationships between ideas, indicate the level of certainty in claims, and foreground the significance of their research contributions.
In this workshop, you’ll build a repertoire of these common academic expressions that can help you signal and facilitate different kinds of scholarly moves. Ideal for both domestic and international students, this session strengthens your academic voice and helps you write with greater fluency and precision.
Attend in person, meet fellow graduate students and enjoy light refreshments while you practice.
