SUMMARY:Sentence Strategies: Using Grammar to Build Academic Arguments
DESCRIPTION:How you arrange clauses within a sentence affects the
relationships readers perceive between your ideas. Coordination can give
claims equal weight\; subordination can establish contrast\, cause\, or
qualification\; and relative clauses can define\, contextualize\, or modify
a key term. In this workshop\, participants will become familiar with these
grammatical structures by assembling\, combining\, and studying sentences
drawn from academic contexts. Along the way\, they will learn how grammar
can support clearer reasoning and sharper emphasis in academic
writing.\n\n\n\nFacilitator: Dr. Alois Sieben\, Centre for Writing and
Scholarly Communication\n\n\n\nLocation: IKBLC\, Level 3\, Dodson Room and
on Zoom. Registrants receive the Zoom link 1 day prior to the
 workshop.\n\n\n\nDate & Time: September 17\, 2026 – 12:00pm-1:30pm
