Writing for Graduate Success: Advanced Citation Strategies in Academic Writing
Citations are more than a formality. They shape how your ideas enter the scholarly conversation. This workshop shows you how to use citations strategically to position your voice, build credibility, and develop a compelling research narrative. You’ll learn key citation functions, analyse examples from published research articles, and practice integrating sources with purpose. Whether you’re working on a research paper, proposal or dissertation, this session will help you move beyond “dropping in quotes” or “avoiding plagiarism” and toward using citations strategically to strengthen your writing.
Facilitator: Dr. Alois Sieben, Centre for Writing and Scholarly Communication
Location: IKBLC, Level 3, Dodson Room and on Zoom. Registrants receive the Zoom link 1 day prior to the workshop.
