SUMMARY:CGS-M Proposal: Crafting a Compelling Research Story
DESCRIPTION:This in-person workshop is designed for undergraduate and 
 master’s students applying for funding from the Canada Graduate 
 Scholarship-Master’s (CGS-M) Program. Drawing on evidence-based research 
 about successful grant proposals\, facilitators discuss particular elements 
 of this written academic genre: audience\, purpose\, knowledge gap\, 
 competence claim\, structure\, style\, and more.\n\nHighlights of this 
 in-person event include dedicated time to write in community\, examples of 
 successful UBC CGS-M research proposals from several disciplines\, light 
 refreshments (coffee\, tea\, snacks)\, and a 30-minute writing consultation 
 with a  Writing Consultant from the Centre for Writing and Scholarly 
 Communication. \n\nRegistrants will receive a link to book their writing 
 consultation on Friday\, November 17 at 9am. The booking schedule will 
 close at noon on Tuesday\, November 21. Bookings for consultations will be 
 on a first come\, first served basis.\n\nA hybrid version of this event 
 takes place on October 25.\n\nFacilitator: Dr. Patty Kelly\, Centre for
